Deutsche Reichsbahn Class 18.0, formerly Saxonian State Railways Class XVIII H New 2000 DRG-Version (1922-49)
Saxonian Version (1918-22) The prototype: The german pacific loco class 18.0 was built in only 10 examples by Hartmann in Chemnitz in 1917 for the Saxonian State Railways. All came to the Reichsbahn at the beginning of the 1920ies. The engines were stationed at Dresden Altstadt locomotive shed for most of their existence. Nine of the ten engines survived the Second World War. During the 1950ies they were once more pushed into high rank services by the Reichsbahn of East Germany and remained in service well into the 1960ies. The powerful and harmoniously outlined loco is regarded as a successful design, representing a synthesis of south german and prussian design principles, which was developed further in the standard locomotive classes of the Reichsbahn. The prototype chassis (photo August 2000) Saxonian version, lightly weathered The model: Our model is produced in three different versions, namely as running on Saxonian State Railways, on the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft of the 1930ies and on the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the 1950ies. For each version two alternative numbers are offered: 204 and 205, 18006 and 18 010, and 18005 and 18010 respectively for saxonian, DRG and DR versions. The Brimalm model of the Class 18.0 is carefully designed and built with the utmost precision.
